Today is Wellness Wednesday and the question is “What are you doing or thinking about doing to implement some juicing into your lifestyle?”

So, even though I am a nurse, I was never taught in nursing school about juicing or anything about the importance of detoxing. I now know and live by it.

Do I do it daily? Almost. But I am still a work in progress.. I did buy a juicer and vitamix and absolutely LOVE the concoctions that I make. My patients now see me bringing with me my cooler with my green shakes and juices that I make for a week in advance (some of the juicing not blending) its the best I can do for now as i know it should be fresh each day to not lose enzymes, but its working so far.

I do notice that I have SO much more energy than when I eat processed foods. Just reminding myself daily of how it” FEELS to feel lighter and have more energy” is enough to motivate me. Since I am in the process of reinventing myself and my body so I have more energy for the second half of my life, I really need to be at my highest fitness level… I am definitely not there yet, but I am making a conscious decision daily to try. What about you? How are you implementing a healthy juicing into your busy lifestyle?

These juice recipes serve 2 and take 10 minutes to prepare.

Simply place all ingredients into your juicer and serve chilled. Green juices are my favorite. I avoid juicing a lot of fruit because of its high sugar content. My top tip is to drink your juice first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. The vitamins and minerals are more easily absorbed on an empty stomach. If you can, drink your juice fresh. Contact with oxygen depletes the nutrients. If you need to store your juice, I would recommend a dark glass airtight container in the fridge.
